PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) announced the Board of Water and Natural Resources has approved $22,527,735 in grants and loans for drinking water, wastewater, and solid waste projects.

The $22,527,735 total includes $440,735 in grants and $22,087,000 in low-interest loans.

The grants and loans approved by the board will be administered through the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Grants were awarded to:
• Watertown, $400,000 for landfill improvements
• South Dakota Solid Waste Management Association, $34,000 to host the 2022 Manager of Landfill Operations course
• Canistota, $6,735 to improve operations at the Canistota Restricted Use Site

Loans were awarded to:
• Mitchell, $11,087,000 for wastewater and watershed improvements and $11,000,000 for drinking water improvements

The grants and loans were awarded from DANR’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Program, Clean Water State Revolving Fund Program and Solid Waste Management Program.
