MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) The Davison County Planning Commission will consider a request to create two smaller residential parcels in an agricultural district when it meets Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Monte Rice is requesting a variance that would create two parcels of approximately 2 acres each. County rules set a 25-acre minimum lot size for a residence in the agricultural district.
Rice also seeks side-yard setback variances for proposed buildings on both parcels. The request would allow setbacks of approximately 15 feet from the north and south property lines, compared with the district’s 50-foot minimum. The commission will also consider a plat for the proposed parcels in Rice’s Addition.
A separate agenda item calls for the commission to consider a plat requested by RDY Family Irrevocable Trust for two lots in Black Eagle Second Addition.
The Rice request is scheduled for a public hearing at 7 p.m. Oct. 6 in the commission room at the Davison County North Offices, 1420 N. Main St. in Mitchell. Interested residents may attend and speak or submit written comments to the county Planning and Zoning office by 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5.
Both requests are proposals. The county has not announced a decision on either one. The meeting also includes time for public input on matters outside the agenda, though the commission will take no action on those comments at that meeting.
