MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Davison County commissioners approved several items at a recent meeting, including a liquor license, an out-of-county jail contract and improvements at the county fairgrounds.

The commission approved a retail on-sale liquor license for Legacy Pointe LLC, which plans to operate a restaurant in a mixed-use building in Davison County.

Commissioners also passed a resolution formally appointing Emergency Manager Jeff Bathke as the county’s designee to request and authorize state wildland fire suppression assistance, if needed.

The board approved an out-of-county jail contract with Clay County and authorized about $8,000 in materials for a new lean-to addition at the Davison County Fairgrounds.

In staffing matters, commissioners approved hiring a part-time Veterans Service Support Specialist at $22 an hour and accepted one employee resignation.

Commissioners also received an update from Davison Rural Water, which is exploring construction of a new water tower within the next three to five years to support projected growth outside Mitchell city limits.
