The Davison County Commission voted to postpone a vote on a conditional use permit for a proposed gun range. The request to postpone the vote was made by the City of Mitchell in order to continue to gather facts and possibly visit a gun range in Watertown which has been referred to in discussions involving Mitchell’s proposed gun range. The public will still have a chance to weigh in before any decision is made by the commission. At recent meetings, residents have expressed concerns about safety and noise. The proposed range would be located on the east side of the former Kelley property at 406th Avenue and 249th and 250th Streets which is now owned by the city. No future date was given for a vote on the project.
