Alcohol will now be allowed for those renting the Davison County Fairgrounds for events. The Davison County Commission discussed the issue at its meeting on Tuesday.

The commission has addressed the alcohol issue in the past and realized that the venue is not being considered for many events due to its current no-alcohol policy.

Those renting the facility can either supply their own alcohol, meaning sales will not be allowed, or bring in a licensed seller to make sales to those who are in attendance. Commission Chairman Randy Reider said those using alcohol at the fairgrounds will need to follow all local and state laws.  Those renting the venue will sign a waiver holding them responsible for any damages incurred.

The commission hopes the change will increase the use of the fairgrounds. It was estimated to have been used for events around 70 times last year.
