The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and neighbors have spoken out after last Wednesday’s standoff in Brandon. A man who was being served a warrant for felony charges barricaded himself inside a home and was confirmed dead after the house caught fire. Chief Deputy Jeff Gromer says the severity of the charges listed on the warrant led to the standoff, saying that sometimes law enforcement has no choice but to try and make an arrest. Alisha Tramp, who lives nearby and saw the situation unfold, says what happened was very out of the ordinary for the local community, but she’s not worried for the safety of residents going forward. Authorities have yet to release the suspect’s name.
