The Dimock-Emery Raptors are in and the Alexandria Angels are out at the Class B South Dakota State Amateur Baseball Tournament.

Last night at Cadwell Park, Dimock Emery defeated Plankinton 7-3 to become the first team of 2021 to earn a berth into the state semifinals. Dimock Emery used a three-run eighth inning to extend the lead from a one-run contest off of RBIs by Doug Sudbeck, Drew Kitchens and Luke Bamberg.

Phil Johnson pitched his second consecutive complete game in the state tournament, with seven strikeouts to one walk — allowing eight hits along the way.

In the late game, Flandreau defeated Alexandria 5-3 to advance to the semis. Flandreau plated two runs in the first against Alex pitcher Jedd Schmidt. Alexandria responded with two runs in the third. Schmidt gave up three more runs in the fifth inning, as Drew DeMurs, Beau Severtson and Jake Patterson all scored on an inning that was extended by two hit batsman and a walk.

Alexandria left 16 men on base throughout the game and left the bases loaded in the second, fourth and fifth innings.
