MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A state climatologist is being cautiously optimistic about South Dakota’s drought conditions as summer approaches. Laura Edwards with SDSU Extension says recent rain and snow has come at a good time for the soil to absorb it and to retain the moisture as the rain sinks in and the snow melts. Just a week ago, there was no portion of South Dakota that was not at least in some sort of moderate drought.
