SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Plans for a possible downtown convention center in Sioux Falls are starting to take shape. The Riverline Steering Committee met Tuesday to hear from a consulting firm about what the project might look like, how much it could cost, and how to pay for it. Early estimates put the price tag between $225 and $250 million, including the building, site work, and underground parking. Consultants say the project could bring in nearly $56 million a year in economic impact and create close to 300 jobs. Council member Rich Merkouris says the community will get plenty of chances to weigh in before anything is decided. The next committee meeting is expected in about six weeks.
