PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Governor Rhoden has ordered flags lowered to half-staff at the State Capitol in honor of a former South Dakota State legislator. Mike Diedrich lost his battle with cancer earlier this month at the age of 70. Diedrich served in the Senate from 1987 to 1990, from 1993 to 1994, and from 2021 to 2024. He stepped down from his position in 2024 to focus on his health. Flags will fly at half-staff until sunset on Saturday. Services will be held tomorrow afternoon in Rapid City.
