The Mitchell City Council meets this evening at 6 PM at City Hall in downtown Mitchell.

The council will consider approval of a settlement agreement regarding the former Crafty Fox building located at 223 North Main Street. The property was declared a nuisance two years ago, and the City entered into an agreement with Western on Main LLC and Ron and Jan Christensen that resulted in the City taking ownership of the building. The City and the Christensens filed lawsuits against each other and attended a mediation session last month where a settlement was reached.

The council will also consider action to approve FloorTec to remove asbestos from the 223 North Main Street property at a cost of nearly $22,000. The removal is needed for the City to continue restoration efforts on the building.

The agenda also includes a resolution to restructure the Public Works Department, combining the former Public Works Director and City Engineer jobs into one position. Tonight’s meeting is open to the public. It is also streamed online and televised locally.
