MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A new free after-school program is launching this fall in the Mitchell School District. The KERNELS After-School Enrichment Program will begin this month at Longfellow, Gertie Belle Rogers, and L.B. Williams elementary schools. Running from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. on full school days, the program offers academic support from certified teachers, fun activities, snacks, and family engagement nights. Superintendent Joe Childs says it’s open to all K-5 students and aims to support both learning and working parents. Enrollment is ongoing. More info is available on the district’s website.
