Mitchell Kernels

The Kernels were unable to end their skid against Sioux Falls Roosevelt. They began the game winning the opening set but were unable to finish it off. They dropped the following three sets and lost it four sets, 3-1. They fall to 1-12. Tomorrow, they face Douglas & Spearfish at home in Mitchell. Sophomores will also be competing against the same opponents in the lower gym at the High School while the Varsity will be in the main gym. Starting with Spearfish at 1pm & then Douglas at 4pm.

Girls tennis will hit the courts tomorrow morning. They will remain home playing at Hitchcock Park with games beginning at 9am.

Both soccer teams came away with victories on last night against James Valley Christian. The boys won in commanding fashion in their game. Winning it 5-1. The girls also had a nice win scoring multiple goals. They won, 3-1.

The varsity gets back on the field today as they return home to Mitchell to play at Joe Quintal Field. In search of win number two taking on the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles. Pregame with Drew Ivery will begin at 6:40pm and kickoff will be at 7pm on Pure Oldies 103.5

Dakota Wesleyan

Both cross country teams for the Tigers are in action later today. They’ll compete in the Jimmie Invite today in Jamestown, ND at the Parkhurst Campground. Women kick things off at 4pm and the men begin at 4:40pm.

Tiger softball will have some fall ball game action tomorrow. It’ll be a doubleheader at 1 & 3pm against the University of Sioux Falls Cougars at the Sherman Softball Complex.

Will have both teams competing tomorrow with the women kicking things off at 3pm at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex taking on Concordia and the men will follow at 5:30pm.

Tiger volleyball will be back at home tonight. The theme will be “Parents Night” in the Christen Family Athletic Center. DWU has struggled as of late, only winning one of their last four matchups. The Tigers will be in action again and they will face the Midland Warriors at 7:30pm.

Tiger football is back again this weekend. Going into week five with a chip on their shoulder, along with some hard-nosed practicing this week, they want to prove they’re better than their record shows. A team that could easily be 2-2 on the year and are hungry for that first win. They’ll be on the road against Hastings tomorrow in Nebraska. Pregame with Rod Pattison will be at 12:35pm with kickoff at 1pm.

WNBA

Playoff action continues. It’ll be the No. 3 seed Connecticut Sun and No. 2 seed Minnesota Lynx who play first with the series currently tied 1-1 and coming to Connecticut for Game 3. The game will begin at 6:30pm. Followed by the No. 1 seed New York Liberty vs the No. 4 seed Las Vegas Aces. Liberty lead the series 2-0 so far and need one more win to sweep and punch their ticket back to the WNBA Finals. Or will the defending champs force Game 4? Action begins at 8:30pm and both games will be on ESPN2.

NFL

Thursday Night Football didn’t disappoint last night in Prime Video. In fact, it saw overtime! A battle between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons was one you didn’t want to miss and was highlight filled. Most notably, Kirk Cousins threw a career-high 509 yards with four touchdown passes. Atlanta forced OT due to a late field goal and struck with a TD in OT to came out on top, 36-30.

MLB

Playoffs in the MLB keep going last night with a lone Game 3 in the opening round. The No. 6 seed New York Mets vs the No. 3 seed Milwaukee Brewers took place. It was the lower-seeded Mets that came out on top with 4-2 victory to send themselves to the National League Division Series (NLDS). The Division Series matchups in both the National and American leagues will begin tomorrow. It’ll be No. 6 Detroit Tigers vs No. 2 seed Cleveland Guardians at 12:08pm. Followed by No. 6 seed New York Mets vs No. 2 seed Philadelphia Phillies at 3:08pm, then the No. 5 seed Kansas City Royals vs No. 1 seed New York Yankees at 5:38pm and finishing with No. 4 seed San Diego Padres vs the No. 1 seed Los Angeles Dodgers at 7:38pm.
