When the summer travel season ends, gasoline prices typically fall, and that’s the case this year. AAA Auto Club reports the nationwide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded today is $3.77 a gallon. That’s down 31 cents a gallon from a month ago, and more than a dollar less than the all-time high of $5.01 a gallon set on June 14th. In South Dakota, the average price is $3.72 a gallon, down 35 cents a gallon from a month ago. The all-time high in South Dakota was $4.79 a gallon set on June 16th.
