Gloria Marie Henglefelt, age 89, of Mitchell, SD (formerly of Alexandria, SD) died Monday, January 24, 2022 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Alexandria, SD with burial at Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, January 28, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Alexandria, SD. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel.
Gloria Marie Henglefelt, daughter of John and Lucille (Mizener) Timm, was born September 15, 1932 in Mitchell, SD. She grew up on a farm east of Mt. Vernon, SD and attended school in Mt. Vernon. Gloria graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1950. After her schooling, she was employed at National Life Insurance Company in Mitchell, SD.
Gloria was united in marriage with Gene Henglefelt on March 27, 1955 in Mt. Vernon, SD. The couple farmed southwest of Alexandria, SD. After Glen’s death, Gloria continued to live on the farm until July of 2019 when she became a resident at Avera Brady Health and Rehab.
While on the farm, Gloria raised chickens, had a huge garden and canned for her family. She was known as “Grandma Moo” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She enjoyed embroidery, reading, St. Bernard dogs, women’s society and attending her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Alexandria, SD.
Grateful for having share her life are her children, Deb (Dale) Wilson, Mitchell, SD, John Henglefelt, Alexandria, SD, Jan (Tom) Beare, Sioux Falls, SD, Glen (Beth) Henglefelt, Alexandria, SD, Sally (Jan) Cain, Sioux Falls, SD, Connie Puepke, Mitchell, SD, Wayne (Kimmy) Henglefelt, Mitchell, SD, Don (Jody) Henglefelt, Alexandria, SD; 23 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her parents; and a grandson, Bryan Wilson.
