MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Governor Larry Rhoden signed Senate Bill 81 on Monday, banning the use of a firearms code for transactions involving guns, ammo, and accessories, with a civil penalty for violations. Rhoden called it a win for Second Amendment rights, noting South Dakota’s growing firearm industry. According to a news release, a private ceremony was held with representatives from the firearm and banking industries, the NRA, and the bill’s sponsors. This marks the 35th bill Governor Rhoden has signed into law this session.
