MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Two government accountability bills take effect next week. They are Senate bills 62 and 63. SB 62 establishes mandatory reporting rules for improper government conduct, and SB 63 puts protections in place for state employees who report bad conduct. Two new South Dakota government accountability laws take effect July 1. Senate Bills 62 and 63, introduced by Attorney General Marty Jackley, establish mandatory reporting of improper conduct and provide whistleblower protections for state employees.
