PIERRE, S.D. (SDBA) – After years of being flush with federal COVID-19 monies, the Fiscal Year 2025 South Dakota state budget will look more “normal.” Governor Kristi Noem presents the annual Budget Address today at 1 p.m. before a joint session of the South Dakota Legislature. Noem’s office did not pre-release details about the next budget. Last year, the governor recommended a budget of over $7.2 billion, over which more than $3.4 billion was federal funds. Today’s budget address will be livestreamed on SD.net. The regular session of the South Dakota Legislature begins at noon on Tuesday, January 9th. The Governor gives the annual State of the State Address on that date at approximately 1 p.m. to a joint session of the legislature.
