PIERRE S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) On Sept. 24, Governor Kristi Noem will recognize the achievements of individuals with disabilities, businesses, and other South Dakotans for their contributions toward ensuring those with disabilities have equal opportunities for employment.

The annual event will be held Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Capitol Rotunda inside the South Dakota State Capitol starting at 11 a.m. CDT. The ceremony is open to the public.

Gov. Noem will recognize the following 2024 award recipients:

  • Justin Minnaert, Madison – Outstanding Individual with a Disability;
  • Michael Svatos, Mitchell – Outstanding Employee with a Disability;
  • Dakota Fluid Power, Rapid City – Outstanding Private Employer (Small Employer);
  • Compass One Healthcare, Rapid City – Outstanding Private Employer (Large Employer);
  • Prairie Lakes Wellness Center, Watertown – Outstanding Public Employer;
  • Cherie Hill, Onida – Outstanding Transition Services; and
  • Arlene Poncelet, Ft. Pierre – Distinguished Service

The Governor’s Awards ceremony is sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Human Services (DHS), the South Dakota Board of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Board of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired, and the Statewide Independent Living Council.
