PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Governor Rhoden’s effort to provide property tax relief for South Dakotans is now a reality. Rhoden signed Senate Bill 216 in the Capitol Rotunda on Thursday. He said, “216 is a win for South Dakota homeowners.” The legislation puts a three percent countywide cap on property tax assessment increases. It will also raise the income and home value limits on the assessment freeze program. The new policies will now take effect over the next five years.
