SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The South Dakota Department of Corrections is notifying the public about the pending release of a high-risk offender. Michael Pigney is scheduled to be released (Wednesday) tomorrow after serving time for possession of a controlled substance and failure to update his address as a registered sex offender, both charges out of Minnehaha County. Pigney will be released to the Sioux Falls area. Authorities say he will not be under parole supervision, meaning he won’t be actively monitored following his release.
