PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A bill seeking to require age-verification for pornography web sites in South Dakota has passed the House and now heads to the Senate. House Bill 10-53, sponsored by Republican Representative Bethany Soye, amends South Dakota law to define covered platforms and provide a penalty for violations. Supporters say that it’s needed to protect children from accessing pornography. Opponents say the bill puts personal data at risk and violates the First Amendment.
