Howard Caylor, 80, of Ethan passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 at Firesteel Health Care in Mitchell. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Ethan, visitation will begin one hour prior. Burial with Military Rites will be in the Ethan Cemetery.

Howard was born August 14, 1941 to Frank and Rehardt (Uhrich) Caylor in Olivet, SD. He graduated from Alexandria High School in 1959. He attended Dakota Wesleyan University.

In 1961 Howard joined the United States Army and even served in Okinawa, Japan. Howard worked hard everywhere he was employed including, Plains Co., Caylor and Reif Heating and Air Conditioning, Sheesley Sheetmetal and Paulson Sheetmetal. He retired in 2005.

Howard married Mary Rene Reif in 1968 and the couple had three sons. They lived in Mitchell from 1968 until 1985 when they moved to Ethan where they lived out their remaining years. Howard was a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion.

Grateful for having shared his life are his sons, Clayton (Theresa) Caylor, Eric Caylor, and Jason (Nichole) Caylor, grandchildren, Erin, Ellie, Makenzie, Caden and Brycen Caylor, sister, Beverly Foster as well as many nieces and nephews.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, three brothers, Dale, Evert, and Kenneth (Bud), a sister, Doris, brothers in-law, Roger Reif, Roger Foster, Gerald Reif, Al Moldrem, sisters in-law, Marion Caylor, Sharron Kennedy and Rita Moldrem.
