Human remains found near Woonsocket have been confirmed to be from a man who went missing three years ago this month. A press release by Sanborn County State’s Attorney Jeff Larson posted on the Sanborn Weekly Journal Facebook page states that DNA testing confirmed that the remains belonged to Eugene Prins. The 45-year old Prins had been running errands with another man on March 26th, 2020. After stopping at an area bar, the two stopped at a residence in rural Woonsocket. Prins stayed in the vehicle while the other man went inside the residence. Authorities believe that after a short time, Prins left the vehicle. Witnesses say he was last seen walking down a road near the residence. It is believed that Prins succumbed to the elements. His remains were found in August of last year about a mile and a half west of where Prins was last seen.
