PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) An Indigenous man who recently had his sentence commuted by President Biden is free. Leonard Peltier was released in North Dakota on Tuesday. Peltier was serving a life sentence for killing two FBI agents in 1975 during a standoff on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. One of Biden’s final acts in office was to commute the sentence of Peltier, who will live out the rest of his days in home confinement.
