Jerry died Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at his home of natural causes. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, October 29, at Bittner Funeral Chapel, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell.
Gerald “Jerry” Metcalf was born June 4, 1951 in Rochester, MN to Donald and Louise Metcalf. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1969 and from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1973. On June 8, 1973 he married Lynn Eichman. Jerry worked in law enforcement for numerous years before going into the sales of Life Insurance. He owned Color Palace from 1980 till 1983 where was involved in floor coverings and paint. In most recent years Jerry was employed by HomeInstead. Jerry was a member of the Mitchell Camera and Coin Collector Clubs, where he was an avid photographer and coin collector.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lynn Metcalf, son, Matt, daughter, Ali (Joel) Gardner, four grandchildren: Claire, Paul and Lucy Gardner and Poppy Metcalf, and brother, Doug (Renee) Metcalf.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, uncle Roland Ziegler, and sister-in-law, Lynne Metcalf.
