The races in the June city election are set, as the deadline for candidates to turn in their petitions was yesterday.
All four wards in the Mitchell City Council election have seats up for grabs. In Ward 1, Tim Goldammer will run unopposed. Incumbent Steve Rice chose to not run for re-election. Incumbent John Doescher will run unopposed in Ward 2. Three candidates turned in petitions to run in Ward 3: Mike Bathke, Jason Bates, and Kimberly Lofgren. Incumbent Dan Allen is not running for re-election. In Ward 4, incumbent Susan Tjarks will run against Don Everson.
Also on the ballot in the city election will be an initiated measure for voters to decide whether the city can sell eight public lots along Lake Mitchell to help fund future lake restoration projects.
In the Mitchell School Board race, incumbent Matthew Christiansen faces challenger Deb Everson. Mitchell School District voters will also decide on a 17 million dollar bond issue to finish the new high school.
The city election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 6th.
