The Mitchell Kernels boys and girls basketball teams fell to Sioux Falls Washington on Tuesday.

The boys were on the road, and lost 71-66. Caden Hinker had a game high 25 points for Mitchell. Joe Uttecht led Washington with 21 points.

The Kernels trailed 40-31 at halftime after giving up 25 points in the second quarter.

The Mitchell boys will be back at home on Friday to take on Rapid City Stevens at 7 p.m. at the Corn Palace.

The Mitchell girls lost 55-18 to Washington at home. The Kernels were without sophomore point guard Sawyer Stoebner, who will be out for the rest of the season with a back injury. Sarah Sebert was the leading Mitchell scorer with 10 points. Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda led Washington with 13 points.

The Mitchell girls travel to Rapid City Steven on Friday.
