PIERRE, S.D. (Mitchell Now) — South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced that the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating a Saturday night shooting in Iroquois that left one person hospitalized and another facing charges. The investigation was requested by Kingsbury County officials, and authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the public, according to a statement from the Attorney General’s Office.
The shooting occurred at a home in Iroquois after an argument between two men. According to the Attorney General’s Office, 40-year-old Ace Bordeaux of Iroquois allegedly shot a 47-year-old man, who was taken by ambulance to a Huron hospital. The victim is reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Bordeaux was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while intoxicated. He is being held in the Beadle County Jail in Huron. Officials noted he is presumed innocent under the U.S. Constitution.
The DCI is leading the investigation with assistance from the Kingsbury County Sheriff’s Office. The Kingsbury County State’s Attorney’s Office will handle prosecution.
