MITCHELL, S.D. – The Great Plains Athletic Conference announced senior forward, Koln Oppold as the week 12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week this morning. Oppold posted two stellar performances last week, one in the upset against (RV) Northwestern at home, then the other on the road for a one-point win over Midland to close out the regular season road schedule.
Oppold helped his team to an upset win at home against (RV) Northwestern, scoring 24 points with five rebounds and handing out six assists. Not to be outdone by a season-high 33-point performance on the road against Midland. On the road, he shot 77.8% from the floor, 66.7% beyond the arc, and converted on his only free throw attempt. Last week Oppold averaged 28.5 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. The shooting percentage averages 62.9% from the floor, 63.2% from deep, and 100% at the charity line.
Oppold and the Tigers are back in action tomorrow, Wednesday, February 16, at 7:45 p.m. as they tip-off against Morningside. DWU men’s basketball closes the book on the 2021-22 regular season Saturday evening as they welcome (RV) Concordia to town for a 5:45 p.m. tip-off. Before tip-off, Saturday, Coach Wilber and the Tigers will honor the six seniors of the 2022 class.
