PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Law Enforcement Memorial Service was held in Pierre at the Law Enforcement Memorial, located at Capitol Lake in Pierre, on May 8, 2024. Those remembered on the memorial represent local, county, tribal, state and federal law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.
This year Moody County Deputy Sheriff Ken Prorok’s name was added to the memorial. He was killed in the line of duty during a vehicle pursuit on February 2, 2024.
The Law Enforcement Memorial Service is an annual event.
