PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Legislative Interim Summer Study Committee on Artificial Intelligence (AI) met in Pierre and took public testimony from various individuals including Chrissie Young, Director of the Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment. She told the committee that globally there has been a 600% increase in the use of the Internet to traffic people, especially children.
South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley also appeared before the assembled legislators and urged them to pass an Internet age verification law in the next session of the legislature. Jackley says technology exists that will allow Internet providers and sites to engage in that verification.
