LETCHER, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A 57-year-old Letcher man appeared in Davison County court Tuesday on charges of second-degree rape and aggravated incest. James Winter was charged following allegations he repeatedly assaulted his adopted daughter over several years. Authorities say the abuse began in 2017, when the victim was a minor, and continued after she became an adult. Winter faces up to 50 years in prison on each rape charge and up to 15 years for the incest charge. He is being held without bond, and a preliminary hearing is set for today.
