Lyle was born March 8, 1964 to Vernon and Karen (Lutze) Tegethoff in Platte, SD. He attended Van Zee school through the 8th grade before going to school in Platte and graduating from Platte High School in 1982. During high school Lyle worked at Meyerink Farm Service. He attended the Mitchell Tech meat cutting program in 1983.

On September 17, 1983 he married Dawn Sejnoha. After graduation from Mitchell Tech, he worked at the pork plant in Wagner, SD, Buches IGA, Bergin’s farm and Yost’s Wagner Locker. In 1990 the couple purchased the Bonesteel Locker and a year and a half later lost it to a fire. They then purchased the Alexandria Locker, owning it for 26 years, only selling for health reasons. Since selling the locker, Lyle drove the school bus for Hanson School and worked part time for the city of Alexandria; driving around in the mornings doing his neighborhood watch.

He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his friends and family, especially his grandkids. He was a member of the Wagner, Bonesteel and Alexandria Fire Departments. During his time at the Alex Fire Department, he served as Chief for 12 years and served on the fire board for several of those years.

He will be missed by his wife, Dawn, his four children and their families, Casey (Shannon) Tegethoff, Mackenzie (Taija) Tegethoff, Seth (Tori) Tegethoff, McKayla (fiancé Josh) Tegethoff, grandchildren, Jozlynn, Braylee, Aubrey and Ellis, his mother, Karen, brother Scott (Jaymie), sisters, Elizabeth (Mark) Sampson, Carmen (Steve) Muilenburg, several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, brothers’ in-law, sisters’ in-law, as well as many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vern, sister, Johanna, in-laws, Bill and Leone Sejnoha, brother’s in-law, Bob and Kirby Sejnoha, and sister in-law, Sherry Dvoracek.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alexandria Fire Department in Lyle’s honor.
