Steve Morgan has lived in Mitchell since 1992 when he finished his college days and began working full-time in radio. Steve started his full-time radio career as an overnight announcer at KMIT in 1992 and was promoted to nights seven months into his career. After a quick stop as a cell phone sales manager for a couple of years, he returned for the next 22 years as a morning radio announcer, mid-day country announcer and sports play-by-play voice for the Mitchell area and the Mitchell Kernels where Steve won Sportscaster of the Year three times in 2008, 2011 and 2016. Steve is also known to listeners as Captain Morgan on the air!
Steve left radio in 2020 to be the head of outside sales and marketing for Sun Gold Sports, a sporting goods store in Mitchell, before returning to radio in September 2021 at KMIT, where it all began for Steve. Steve started his radio career as a part-time announcer for KMIT in 1988, while in high school. Steve is the Operations Manager and Morning Show on KMIT for The Mitchell Radio Group that includes four radio stations here in Mitchell. He enjoys getting back to calling area sports and visiting area football fields and gyms around the area on KOOL 98-3 Sports.
Steve is involved in many community organizations like Special Olympics, Heart and Sole, Lifequest, the Masonic Lodge and Shriners and the Corn Palace Festival Committee to name a few. Steve loves to camp and attend and watch all sporting events. Steve grew up in Armour and is married to Dawn for 30 years and they have three daughters Kendra (27), Brenna (24) and Hannah (21). Steve is also a Papa for the first time with the arrival of his granddaughter in June of 2021 named Morgan.
