MHS Boys’ Golf
The golf team participated in the Bill Scholten Memorial Golf Tournament in Brookings on Monday September 16, 2024. The Mitchell boys placed 5th with Brandon in 4th, Watertown 3rd, Pierre 2nd and Harrisburg winning the tournament. Individual MHS golfer results include Asher Dannenbring and Carter McCormick tying at 17, Marshall Widstrom placed 25th, Everett Morrison came in at 30th and Brady Reinders was 45th and Dawson Adams was 64th.
Next up for the Kernel golfers will be a round robin tournament on Friday September 20,2024, at Lakeview golf course in Mitchell.
MHS Soccer
The MHS boys’ soccer team was on the road at Vermillion yesterday (Tuesday September 17, 2024). The Kernels fought to a 3-3 tie with Adam Kampshaw scoring the hat trick for Mitchell. The soccer team is now 3-4-2 and will take on Yankton at home on the East Practice Field at 4pm on Thursday September 19, 2024.
The MHS girls’ will also be in action against Yankton at home on Thursday September 19, 2024. The girls will take the field at Joe Quintal Stadium at 6pm.
MHS Girls’ Tennis
The MHS girls’ tennis team was on the road for a triangular in Yankton. In the first match vs. Sioux Falls Lincoln the MHS girls lost for only the second time this season. Carsyn Weich and Elly Clement won their singles matches, but the Kernels went down to the Rough Riders by a match score of 7-2.
Up next was Yankton, Mitchell lost first flight singles and doubles, but Mitchell came out on top of the Gazelles 7-2 with Carsyn Weich, Katie Morgan, Elly Clement, Matteah Graves, and Mia Larson all winning their singles matches and Mitchell taking the doubles matches in flights two and three from Yankton.
The next match for the Kernel girls’ tennis team is Tuesday September 24, 2024, against the Watertown Arrows at 11 am at Hitchcock Park.
