The 89th annual South Dakota Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament got underway on Wednesday evening at Cadwell Park in Mitchell.

Milbank scored 5 runs in the first inning on their way to an 8-4 victory over Platte.  Justin Larson pitched 5 2/3 innings for Milbank with former DWU pitcher Dominique Boerger finishing the game.  The pair held Platte to just 6 hits.  After the rough opening start, Grant Lang struck out 15 batters the rest of the way for Platte.  Boerger and Lance Frogner led Milbank at the plate for Milbank with two hits apiece.

Dimock-Emery scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 8th inning to down Castlewood 4-3 in the second game on Wednesday.  Doug Sudbeck hit a two-run single in the 4th to give Dimock-Emery a 2-0 lead.  Castlewood came back to take a 3-2 lead in the 5th.  Dimock-Emery tied the game 3-3 after a Castlewood balk.  In the bottom of the 8th, Castlewood committed two infield errors before Sudbeck hit a game-winning single.  Jason Schmidt notched the win on the mound for Dimock-Emery.

Dimock-Emery will face Milbank at 5:30 PM on Sunday evening.  We will broadcast that game on KOOL 98.
