The Mitchell High baseball team wrapped up the regular season scoring 28 runs in a Sunday sweep of Rapid City Stevens at Cadwell Park.
The Kernels fell behind 4-1 in the first game, but then took command with a seven-run fourth inning, followed by five runs in the fifth inning. Jonah Schmidt went 3-4 at the plate, while driving in four runs to lead the Kernels as they took game one 13-4.
In game two, the Kernels tallied eleven hits, while Dylan Soulek allowed just two hits in five innings on the mound as Mitchell easily won 15-1 for the two-game sweep. Jake Helleloid led the Kernels’ offense with two hits along with 3 RBIs.
Mitchell finished the regular season at 16-12 with the region tournament coming up Saturday.
