The Mitchell baseball team only managed 3 runs on the day against Sioux Falls Lincoln Tuesday night, but that was good enough for a split in the two games at Cadwell Park.
The Kernels got efficient pitching from Ethan Price in game one, who allowed just one run on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. Mitchell’s offense had just enough in the game as Jake Helleloid got an RBI single in the first inning, while Jace Larson had the other RBI single in the fifth inning to give the Kernels the 2-1 win.
In the second game on the night, Mitchell’s offense was not productive enough and they made four errors while being outhit 9-4. Sioux Falls Lincoln jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning, then Ty Schafer shut down the Kernels’ hitters, pitching a complete game for the Patriots as they topped Mitchell 6-1.
Next up for the Kernels is a doubleheader at Brandon Valley Friday night at 6pm.
