The Mitchell City Council will decide on variance requests from two medical marijuana dispensaries. The requests from DLJ LLC and Genesis Farms were tabled at the last city council meeting. DLJ LLC’s proposed location is 501 East Juniper Street, which would be within 1,000 feet of another dispensary. The proposed location for Genesis Farms is 106 West 5th Avenue, which would be within 300 feet of a church. Additionally, the council will decide on approval of a medical cannabis cultivation application. BWC Mitchell LLC, doing business as BesaMe Wellness, has already been approved to operate a medical marijuana dispensary in the former Runnings building at 1400 South Burr Street.

Tonight’s agenda also includes setting the hearing date and appointing the appraisal board for an exchange of property on North Main Street. The City of Mitchell currently owns the property at 514 North Main, which is the Northwestern Energy building. The Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce owns the property at 522 North Main, which is where the Scoreboard Pub and Grill is located. The city and the owners of the Scoreboard have discussed exchanging the properties.

Today’s Mitchell City Council meeting begins at 6 PM at City Hall in downtown Mitchell. It is open to the public, is streamed online, and is televised locally. The agenda can be found here:  Agenda – 04/04/2022 (cityofmitchell.org)
