Mitchell will become the latest city to allow alcoholic beverages to be sold and consumed in its movie theaters. The Mitchell City Council last night approved the application of Logan Luxury Theaters for a new retail (on-off sale) malt beverage and wine license.
Owner Jeff Logan says protocols will be in place. Only staff who are 21 and older will be authorized to ID customers and sell the alcohol. Logan says there are locked storage areas and that the alcohol will be served in a distinguishable plastic cup. Those who are authorized to purchase alcohol will be given a wristband. There will also be a two-drink maximum per customer per movie.
Logan says several other cities in South Dakota, including Sioux Falls, Madison, Brookings, Vermillion, and Spearfish, now allow movie theaters to sell alcohol.
