MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Mitchell City Council approved the purchase of new seats for the Corn Palace but postponed the decision on their color. Council members debated whether the seats should be black or Tiger Blue. Superintendent Joe Childs has confirmed that Mitchell School District would still hold some games at the Corn Palace, even with their new high school facilities. The council approved the new chairs for $557,000, which will be ADA-compliant. Existing chairs will be auctioned off, according to the Mitchell Daily Republic. The new seats will reduce the arena’s capacity by about 150 but will add several wheelchair accessible spots.
