The Mitchell City Council will consider approval of a 30-year lease with the Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo for the rental of 20 acres of land along Airport Road. The annual rental fee would be $7,500. The lease would begin on January 1st of next year and would expire on December 31st, 2051. The land would be used to host the annual rodeo. The Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo is currently in a lawsuit with the landlords of the Horsemen’s Sports Arena, which is where the rodeo is currently held each year.
The council will also hear the first reading of an emergency ordinance amending regulations on medical cannabis.
Also on tonight’s agenda is the Golf Course Master Plan developed by Norby Golf Course Design after a public engagement process.
