Applications for two local events that were cancelled last summer due to COVID-19 are on tonight’s Mitchell City Council agenda. The consent agenda includes a special event permit application for the Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo Parade, which is scheduled for July 17th. Action to approve a special event application for the Heart & Sole Cancer Walk on June 18th is also on tonight’s agenda.
The council will consider action to approve a temporary public parking space closure at 2nd and Lawler from May through October for an outdoor eating area. The space was used for that purpose for several months last year.
A 10-year renaming of the Corn Palace Broadcast Booth after Tim Smith will also be considered by the Mitchell City Council tonight. Tonight’s meeting is open to the public, is streamed online, and is televised locally.
