The Mitchell City Council meets tonight at 6:00 at City Hall in downtown Mitchell. The council will consider approving a Tax Increment Financing District, or TIF, to fund more than $500,000 in renovation work on the former Shopko building. The building was purchased by Krohmer Plumbing last year for $1.8 million. Half of the building will be used by the business. At a recent Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, Frank Krohmer revealed that he is seeking two more retail businesses for the other half, one of them a national retail business. Renovations to the building are expected to be completed this fall. The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the TIF and project plan by unanimous votes at its meeting last week.
Tonight’s Mitchell City Council meeting is open to the public. It is also streamed on the city’s YouTube page and televised locally. The agenda can be found here: https://mitchellsd.portal.civicclerk.com/event/1189/files/3048.
