MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Mitchell City Council quietly approved a tax increment financing district and rezoning for the Peaceful Pines Senior Living Center after months of heated debate. The proposed 59,000 square-foot facility will include 55 units for assisted, independent, and memory care living, along with amenities like a dining room, a salon, and exercise space. The agreement caps tax increment financing at $2.89 million, and construction is set to begin this fall. Despite concerns about property valuation, the council offered no comment during the meeting.
