MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Mitchell City Council will meet today to consider renaming Public Beach Park at Lake Mitchell to “Sebert’s Beach” in honor of former Mayor Lou Sebert, who passed away July 27 at age 89. Sebert served as mayor from 2006 to 2012 and was also a former state legislator. Mayor Jordan Hanson praised Sebert’s contributions, noting the proposed name would honor a legacy of civic impact. The council will also review engineering contracts related to Lake Mitchell improvements, a $1.44 million wastewater project, a new airport hangar, and a housing partnership.
