MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Mitchell City Council changed its mind about buying an empty lot downtown, leading owner John Adamo to withdraw his $1 offer. Adamo had proposed selling the lot to the city to turn it into a parking area, but after the council decided to focus on developing the lot for businesses, he pulled back. Adamo clarified that his offer wasn’t a bailout for him but a financial loss to benefit the city. The council had planned to pave the lot in 2025 but opted against it, noting that there are already plenty of parking spaces nearby. Adamo, who has been restoring the Western Building across the street, emphasized that he had met his obligations and was proud of his work in Mitchell.
