The Mitchell baseball team allowed 25 runs on Tuesday night as they were swept by Sioux Falls Washington in a doubleheader at Cadwell Park.

Ethan Price took the loss for Mitchell in the first game, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits, while the Kernel batters only managed 3 hits as they fell 8-2. Seth Muth got an RBI single in the fourth inning, while Tate Ellwein hit a sacrifice flyout in the sixth inning for Mitchell’s only runs.

In the second game, Sioux Falls Washington’s offense exploded for 9 runs in the fourth inning on their way to a dominant 17-0 win over the Kernels. Mitchell’s offense struggled even more in this game with only 2 hits, while Washington scored at least two runs in four innings. Jonah Schmidt and Jace Larson had the only two hits for the Kernels, while Lanning Waddell took the loss for the Mitchell on the mound as he allowed 7 earned runs on 7 hits.

Mitchell is at Yankton Friday night at 6pm, before wrapping up the regular season Sunday against Rapid City Stevens at 1pm.
