MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) —Mitchell High School announces the retirement of Head Girls Basketball Coach Dave Brooks following the conclusion of the 2025–2026 basketball season.
Coach Brooks concludes an outstanding tenure leading the Mitchell High School girls basketball program, leaving behind a legacy defined by competitive excellence, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to student-athletes. Throughout his time at Mitchell, Coach Brooks built a program rooted in discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship, helping shape not only successful teams on the court but confident young leaders off of it.
Under Coach Brooks’ leadership, the program achieved sustained success, earning multiple state tournament appearances and establishing a reputation as one of the state’s respected programs. His dedication extended far beyond wins and losses, as he consistently emphasized academic achievement, character development, and community involvement.
The search for his replacement will begin immediately.
